Texas floods trail storms across central plains

A storm front dropped over five inches of rain in Central Texas while floods rose along the Sabine and nearby rivers. Light rain spanned a wide area north of the front, with Bastrop reporting heavy totals and a cold front moving southeast toward the Gulf. Record cold and frost affected much of the Midwest and East as forecasters warned of increasing showers in West Texas and higher rivers over the weekend.

FOR WAR DEAD Memorial Observance Slated Here Today
