Police said a leather attache case with emeralds diamonds and rubies was taken from Miss Loren's rented country mansion where detectives examined a window with marks. Producer Pierre Rouve noted the gems symbolized Loren's milestones. she was too upset to inventory them.
A rushing wave of traffic deaths during a three day Memorial Day weekend pushed total fatalities past 337 by Sunday night with 230 deaths in traffic, 37 drownings, 47 miscellaneous, and 23 boating mishaps. Texas reported 26 deaths including 11 traffic fatalities and six drownings amid official forecasts of up to 30 street deaths.
A new book claims Lt. Cmdr. Lionel Crabb was captured by the Russians during a 1956 visit by Bulganin and Khrushchev and brain washed into the Red Navy. Admiralty rejects the claim as fabrication, while MP Cmdr. J S Kerens seeks a government probe.

Det Tedder traced the trail from the victim’s account of visits to Gordy at 329 Ave H, noting the suspect had been at the shop on Monday and Tuesday.
President Eisenhower will add visits to the Philippines and Formosa to his planned June Far East tour. He is scheduled to reach Manila on June 14 for three to four days, then travel to Taipei before proceeding to Tokyo and Seoul with June 23 return to Tokyo.
