Shooting near TWU dorm wounds eight students
Eight people were wounded when gunfire erupted after a traffic accident near Texas Woman's University in Denton. Linda Hopkins, a TWU student, and Ralph Stolow of North Texas State University were hospitalized with gunshot injuries. others were treated and released. Police said no one was in serious condition.

Kennedy N Clapp 80 longtime Lubbock civic leader and chairman emeritus of the Parks Board died at West Texas Hospital after a three week pneumonia stay. A Tennessee native who moved to Lubbock in 1924, he helped found the South Plains Area Council of Boy Scouts and served on the city parks board from 1926, chairing it from 1928 to 1965.
