Plains Farming Interest Sports In Export Acres

With a week remaining to sign for the overplant option under the cotton program, Plains County farmers race to meet the June 1 deadline. ASCS head Charles G. Bragg reports a swamped counter, long lines, and sign ups spreading to Crosby and Lamb counties. Expectation is that most will sign in Lubbock County with 2,600 cotton allotment farms. Overplant will be sold for export without subsidies, likely at around 20 cents per pound. George W. Pfeiffenberger, Plains Cotton Growers, is named back to the National Cotton Advisory Committee through November 1965.
