Severe weather swept the Central Plains and Far West with blizzards tornadoes hail and high winds. Kansas saw five to eight inches of rain and flash flooding while Texas South Plains stayed hot and dry. Lubbock hit 95 while Laredo topped the nation at 101. A tornado watch covered parts of Kansas Oklahoma and the Texas Panhandle.

Lea County Teams Lead At Capitan Wool Judging Contest
Two Lea County 4-H teams won senior and junior divisions at the state wool judging meet in Capitan New Mexico. Senior team members Debbie Jones Claire Jones and Lyman Graham placed high individually and will go to nationals in Sonora June 8 9 10. Junior team members Marsha Griffin Dirk Jones Richard Pettigrew and Ruby Gilmore also won top junior individual honors. Coaches include Robert Howard of New Mexico State University.

New Mexico Highway Commission Schedules May Hobbs Meeting
