Ralph B. Baumann, 21, former Army Air Forces gunner, told officers he may be the phantom killer of five Texas residents. He declared he wants to clear up the matter and was booked on suspicion of murder.
Police and FBI capture ex GI Baumann at a shooting gallery after he allegedly fired and claimed to be running from a murder. He held a rifle with 23 straight bulls-eyes and told officers he wants Hollywood stunt work if he did not kill five in Texarkana.
A witness describes the suspect as a possible mental case and notes the Texarkana murders may have been his work, though no facts exist yet. The man awoke May 3 and fled to Los Angeles in fear, driven by guilt, anger, and rumors of a killer matching his description.

Items valued about 175 dollars including two typewriters an electric clock a fountain pen and change were taken. Bond set at 2500 for Minchey.
Partly cloudy conditions continue across West Texas this afternoon and tonight with cooler air in the Panhandle and South Plains. Friday shows partial cloud cover and modest warming only around El Paso. East Texas sees substantial cloudiness and scattered showers in the far northwest, with cooler readings in that area and showers extending into the extreme east. Coastal areas experience fresh southerly winds.
In Rochester on May 23 208 pickets massed before the public works station during a week-old labor dispute were arrested for disorderly conduct. Hugh Harley CIO United Electrical workers organizer was among those detained. Arraignment in city court was planned later that day.

Mrs. Edward T. Stotesbury, widow of noted financier and longtime Palm Beach society leader, died at 81 in El Mirador mansion. She had been a dominant figure in high society since 1920.
