The United Presbyterian Church approved a long range continuing education program to allow ministers to take off the job for refreshment. A Commission on Continuing Education is to map the plan and a standard examination system for all ministry candidates was approved.

Texas Tech Music Camp Schedules Set for Summer
Dates announced for Texas Tech annual high school and junior high music camps with enrollments open in the music department. About 300 to 400 Lubbock area students expected across divisions. Keyboard division directed by Louis Catuerna with a May start and weeklong sessions. Guest clinicians include Robert Dummo of Boston, Mississippi and Hugh Ross of New York City. High school choir school set for June 2024 with Gene Kenney in charge and Harry Ross to lead. Full schedule mirrors choir hours with multiple clinics by visiting directors such as Mark Hindsley of University of Winds. Capstone twirling program added with new elective options led by Terry Stephens and Chiu Dean Cunningham. Orchestra program runs June 20 to July 1 under Paul Ellsworth with junior high sessions continuing.

Englishmen Start 15-Foot Puffin Across Atlantic Homeward
Two Englishmen David Johnstone of Farnham Surrey and John Hoare of Leicester launched the 15 foot Puffin from the Virginia Beach oceanfront. They began a row home across the Atlantic aiming to beat a 55 day record set just 70 hours earlier.

Four Die in Car and Truck Collision in Arkansas City
Four persons died and two were injured when a car and a tractor-trailer rig collided in Lake Village Arkansas early Saturday. The dead included Jimmy Perrin 40 of Watson and George Slusser 21 of Turtle Creek Pennsylvania. Linda Reeves 1 and Judy Reeves 19 both of McGehey were in the car. The truck was driven by Guy Harris Jr 38 of Morristown Tennessee. Harris was unhurt.
