Cab Driver Fined Passenger Faces Charges At Brownfield
A 24 year old Levelland man Truman Winford Grant was held on forgery and a misdemeanor check law violation after arrest in Sea Graves while riding in a Lubbock taxi. The cab driver faced drunkenness charges, paid a $20 fine, and returned the taxi to Lubbock. The driver and Grant had left Lubbock for Odessa earlier.

Funeral services for Maggie Sue Wood 81 pioneer Swisher County resident will be at 4 30 p m Sunday at the Kress Methodist Church with Dr G K Rogers and Rev Robert Brown officiating She died Friday night at a daughter s home in Amarillo Born in Tennessee she came to Texas with her parents and lived in Ellis County before moving to Swisher County in 1908 The family homesteaded near Kress She later moved to Plainview and then to Amarillo Surviving are four sons three daughters two brothers two sisters and 14 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren Burial will be in Kress Cemetery beside her husband

Hobbs High School choral director John Christopher and Eunice High School band director Orin Bartholomew were named to the eighth annual music camp staff at Eastern New Mexico University. The camp runs June 3 to 12 in Portales with 36 staff members and several hundred students expected from West Texas and New Mexico.
