Pollution suit filed against Universal Treating in Levelland
The first Hockley County pollution case was filed by the State of Texas against Universal Treating Inc. of Levelland for alleged air contamination. A June 7 hearing was set, with plaintiff Mrs. Trinidad Gutierrez alleging emissions from a non natural process. City officials ordered checks for fire and health hazards near the plant after reports of dumped oil.
