Stock Market Ends Mixed After Broad Gains In Late Session
The New York Stock Exchange saw gains in tobacco, building, drugs, mail order retail, farm implements, aircraft, electronics, and glamour issues while overall volume remained strong. Fannie Mae led trading with a 54 point drop to 224 1/4, and the day featured 947 advances to 481 declines on the Big Board amid 1,755 issues traded. Amex volume rose and indexes edged higher across major averages.
