Medical Care Plan Nears Approval in Congress
Washington API reports the House Ways and Means Committee is closing in on a medical care package acceptable to both the American Medical Association and lawmakers seeking a Social Security financed program. The plan would expand medical care under federal state welfare programs and relax the Kerr-Mills means test based mainly on income, allowing partial benefits for those over the income cap and removing demanding requirements. It would broaden benefits for old age assistance, aid to dependent children, the blind, and the disabled, with financing from treasury revenues.
