Ruby death penalty fight hinges on judge disqualification

Large Red China nuclear test triggers Japan fallout alarm

Japan reports an enormous rise in radioactive fallout from China's latest atomic blast. A jet stream at 29 000 feet carries particles up to 100 miles per hour. Kosaka of Niigata University says radioactivity is 100 to 200 times higher than earlier tests. Eisaku Sato orders weather stations to test air and water and protect food supplies. No immediate danger to life indicated.

Film leaders push family viewing at Texas clubs meet

Ford Division reports record May sales easing auto slump

Ford Division posted 50,494 car sales and 114,088 trucks in the first 60 days of May, a new early May high.
