Three Others Indicted In Capital Cases
A 48 year old Lubbock man Edward Roy McCallum was indicted for murder with malice in the beating death of Gus Pierce 18 of Ave K. The grand jury returned 72 indictments the largest number in Lubbock County history for this period. Pierce died May 1 after an autopsy showed brain concussion. McCallum was held on bond after Saturday arrest and later identified by hospital staff.

Sgt. Gerald Neighbors, 22, of Breford, recounts a 40 day death march from Dec 1950 to 1951 during Korean captivity. He describes dysentery, frozen feet and hands, grain based rations, and a marching column of about 1 000 prisoners. Neighbors returned to the U S in the exchange of wounded and is home with wife Shirley and daughter Cindy.

KCBD TV Launches Second Station In Abilene
KCBD TV begins operation today on channel 11 with NBC and ABC programs. Studios are in the 5600 block of Ave A, broadcasting from a 791 foot tower. Initial power is 21 kilowatts with plans for a 105 kilowatt transmitter, making it among Texas’ strongest stations except for San Antonio and Houston.
