RUIDOSO MOUNTAIN AREA FIRE BEING CONTAINED
Indian firefighters battled a 3000 acre forest blaze in the Lincoln National Forest northeast of Ruidoso New Mexico. Robber Escapes as Night Attendant Fires At Looters
A service station in Lubbock reported a robbery on Friday with an 18 year old attendant Jimmy Correll firing two shots at the suspect, who fled with about 125 dollars. Police described the bandit as male and wearing a coat, possibly leaving by an alley to escape a second shot. No one was injured. Witnesses said no getaway car was seen. The incident follows a spree of five robberies in the city since late November.

Two Lubbock Men Die In Arkansas Crash
A heavy rain car wreck about four miles north of Little Rock on U.S. 62 65 killed C E L Billy Breiner 92 and Dr N A Cox 52 both from Lubbock. Two others were injured including Howell and Whiteley with extensive injuries. The four were en route to Lakeview for a fishing trip when their rented car struck a left rear of an empty truck trailer on a curve. Rainfall in the area was heavy with inches reported.
