War celebrations loom as V E day signals end of hostilities in Europe. Obituary notes banker and landowner William D Green of Lubbock dies suddenly. National and international fairs were topics at recent home demonstration club meetings. Idalou members answered roll call with helpful hints and listed attendees including Mesdames Barnhart Gallatin Spence Holt Spence and Owen. May meeting will focus on Our Youth of Today.
At a Hilton hotel dinner attended by 48 Girl Scout leaders and officers, talk centered on establishing a permanent camp for Lubbock Girl Scouts. Rosemary Head urged hiring another professional worker to aid scouting activities as Chas A Guy urged equal recognition with Boy Scouting.
Mrs. Mary Gorman of Fresno honored guest at the Lubboth Slaton auxiliary initiation in Slaton Thursday night. Initiated were Mesdames Betty Dobson Lelia Quar Tes Dorothy Howell all of Slaton and Ila Mae Wy if Lola Mae Aaron Lorene Neal and Viola Martin Mary Nell Culver from Lubbock. Mrs. Drucella Zachary led the business session as forty one members from Lubbock Slaton and San Angelo attended.
Fit and Fashion club members and families attended a Thursday night picnic in the Senior High School gym. Special guests included Mr and Mrs George Philbrick and Susan, Mr and Mrs Curtis Barrett and Rucker.

The South Plains Dahlia society marked its seventh anniversary with a barbecue at Dr. A. C. Anderson’s home at 3720 Twenty-fifth. Dahlias and other blooms from Old and New Mexico and Washington were on display. Guests included Mrs. W. C. Hamilton of Wichita Falls and Mrs. Alex McDonald. Members listed include A. L. Faubian O. A. Goodart H. J. Kendrick C. N. Kennon H. I. Knight L. L. Miller B. E. Needles E. C. Pool W. B. Sides James Samson and Mrs. Lillian Slay.
Senior High School homemaking class 130 held an afternoon party for Mrs. Emma Hasings in the homemaking rooms on Thursday afternoon. Guests included pupils Mozelle Nelms Dasha Dee Jackson and performers Mary Frances Settle Betty Sue Tippit Juenita Reynolds and Inota Reynolds provided musical numbers.
