Three Transplants Fight for Survival in Three Cities

Three middle aged men in the United States and Britain survived Friday night transplant operations. Everett Thomas in Houston received a heart from Mrs. Martin and woke three hours after surgery. Patrick Ryan donated the heart in London for a 45 year old recipient. Joseph Rizor in Stanford and Rudy Anderson whose heart was used died in California. The Stanford operation marked the second at the center with Rizor in fair condition. The Houston surgery by Dr. Denton Cooley avoided massive transfusions and lasted three hours.

Judge Halts LCB Ruling in Texas Private Clubs Case

Dist. Judge Jim Meyers issued a temporary restraining order blocking enforcement of the Texas Liquor Control Board no cash sale directive for private clubs.
