Iberia Convair Crashes Near Tangier Killing Many Aboard

A twin engined Iberia Convair plunged into the sea near Tangier while approaching the airport. Of 54 aboard, 51 reportedly died. A Spanish fishing vessel rescued three badly injured survivors. Most passengers were Swedes, Germans and Britons. The plane had departed Malaga.

A Itasca Texas car dealer faces two indictments after a Hill County grand jury charged him and Jesse Neagle 28 with theft totaling 152185 and fraud of 82505 and 9626 from Robert Cowan Covington State Bank president. Rifle Shot Kills Young Navy Wife

A young Navy bride from Texas was killed by a rifle shot in Monterey California. Police say 22 year old Carroll Countryman likely triggered the weapon while it was on a closet shelf. her husband Johnny Countryman 21 from Kaufman Texas was with her. Police Chief Frank Marinello called the shooting accidental and noted Countryman is a student at the Defense Language Institute.

An unidentified caller warned American Airlines that a jet departing Memphis with 108 people aboard carried a bomb. The plane returned, was searched, and resumed service three hours late en route to San Angeles via Dallas. No bomb was found.

Blast Rates Home At Wichita Falls

A house explosion and flash fire in Wichita Falls hospitalized four people Tuesday night. Owner L DBD White 22 said his family had just moved in as neighbors visited. Burn injuries included two White daughters Deborah 12 and Donna 5 along with Linda Jarvis and her 2 year old son Michael. White had installed appliances and smelled gas moments before the blast blew out two walls.

Houston man James Robinson, 29, charged with kidnapping and beating part time model Dorothy Weir 21. Weir identified him from photos and said he pistol whipped her, forced her into a car, drove to a beach and attempted rape before fleeing. She is hospitalized with serious injuries.
