Rehearing Sought In Crosby County Road Bond Case
Andy Wooten plans to file a motion for rehearing in Amarillo on the Crosby County road bond dispute. A June 5, 1948 election authorized 132000 in bonds for Consolidated Road District 1, with Wooten alleging improper notice and benefit claims. The Amarillo court upheld the lower ruling denying relief, while noting a more accurate jury form could have been used.

Oil Group Predicts Tax on Processors Lowers Crude Price
Mid-Continent Oil and Gas Association president R. B. Anderson argues a one percent levy on petroleum fuel processing could cut crude by about 22 cents per barrel if refiners pass the cost to producers. He opposes Rep. Davis Clifton’s plan replacing the four percent retail gas tax with the processing tax, warning it would harm Texas refiners and producers and tighten gas supply. The House committee will hear the bill in Austin Monday night.
