Senate backs anti bombing add on labor strife in civil rights bill

Washington reports the Senate voted 85 to 1 to extend the anti bombing section of the administration civil rights bill to cover labor disputes, while the House killed two Eisenhower backed measures. The Senate also adopted a Sam Ervin amendment limiting prosecutions to the district where the crime occurred or where the fugitive is confined.

Postal Officials Slain In Chicago

Two postal inspectors were shot and killed outside Chicago's main post office. Authorities investigated the incident as a fatal attack on federal employees at a prominent city landmark.

Washington reports NASA says Pioneer V, a 94.8 pound sun satellite, nears the million mile mark between Venus and Earth. It surpasses Pioneer IV’s distance record as it advances toward a mid day distance around 574,534 miles and 644,430 miles at noon.
