Marines Evacuate A Shau Camp After 39 Hour Fight

UPI report says helicopters plucked 69 defenders from the besieged U S Special Forces camp near Laos border as North Vietnamese forces overran the outpost. Four Americans saved, some green berets likely among survivors. two helicopters were shot down. Approximately 400 tribal defenders and 12–13 advisers held the line against about 2,000 NVA troops before air strikes were called in from allied aircraft.

Dutch Princess Beatrix Weds amid Anti German Protests

Crown Princess Beatrix and her groom Claus von Amsberg married under heavy security as about 20000 police and 15000 ceremonial troops guarded a 24 mile procession through Amsterdam. Two thousand demonstrators hurled smoke bombs and literature while teens clashed with authorities and 24 people were arrested or injured. Viet Cong Grenade Attack Kills Seven at Saigon Area Bar

Viet Cong terrorists killed seven people and wounded 54 when two grenades were hurled into a bar-restaurant in Binh Duong City about 20 miles north of Saigon. A Vietnamese military spokesman said most victims were Vietnamese. The grenades were thrown shortly after noon as the venue was crowded. The perpetrators escaped.
