A Pacific cold front brings Arctic air into the state triggering road-blocking snows and thunder with hail. Snow depths up to three inches are forecast for portions of the Panhandle as strong northerly winds whip blowing snow, complicating travel tonight and into the morning.
A winter storm spread snow across the Panhandle with drifting widespread and roads north of Amarillo urged to stay off. Sheriff reports said snowfall closed roads to Stratford, with Plainview seeing flurries and most South Plains areas expecting under one inch.
Viet Cong and North Vietnamese negotiators in Paris signaled willingness to discuss ending the war as they pressed a spring offensive. U.S. and South Vietnamese bases faced rocket, mortar and limited ground assaults with civilian casualties reported around Saigon. US defense officials noted light damage but two shelling attacks were followed by ground actions near Go Dau Ha and Phu Cuong in Tay Ninh province.
