Rancher Jon Elwood Clayton Dies In Private Plane Crash
A Borden County rancher, Jon Elwood Clayton, 47, died when his private Piper Super Cub crashed 26 miles northeast of Lamesa. The crash occurred about 11 a.m. and the wreckage did not burn. Clayton was pinned in the wreckage for 20 minutes before rescuers could remove him. The cause was undetermined. investigators considered a spin as a possibility.
