Ex Air Chief Talbott Dead in Florida Home Visit

Harold E. Talbott, former Air Force secretary under Eisenhower, died unexpectedly at 2:30 a.m. Saturday in Palm Beach County at the home of Mrs. Harry Payne Bingham while visiting with his wife Margaret Thayer Talbott. A nephew in a te plane flight said he died likely from a cerebral hemorrhage. doctors had not yet confirmed the exact cause. Talbott, 68, would have been 63, was a Dayton native and industrialist who led several aircraft firms before joining the cabinet post.

City Cotton Broker's F246 Recovered Knife-Point Hold-Up

George W. Loveless a 51 year old Lubbock cotton broker was robbed by four teen ages Negroes who held a knife to his throat and took 246 dollars mostly large bills from his safe. A fourth suspect was arrested two hours later while the others fled. Police traced the trio into custody with a manhunt following the knife point robbery on a Saturday afternoon.

Moon-Circling Rocket Seen Within Five Years

Brig. Gen H F Gregory of the Air Force Office of Scientific Research says the Air Force may launch a rocket around the moon within five years. He cites moon rocket study contracts and says several projects are in the works to stay ahead of the Russians. Convair headed proposals for actual hardware contracts are anticipated, with three moon rocket projects planned in the next few years.

Oklahoma 87 to wed 64 year old city woman today

An 87 year old Oklahoma man, famed for punching cows and taking part in the 1889 land run, plans to marry 64 year old Emily Evans of Lubbock at 4 30 p m today. John W Whipple of Kingston and Mrs Evans have family ties in California and will relocate to Kingston after the ceremony.

Fire Damages Hub Jones Residence Heavy Damage Estimated

Fire swept part of the home of Mr. and Mrs. Hub Jones at 3212 25th Street Saturday evening, causing damage estimated in the thousands. Two grandchildren and a Negro maid were in the house but escaped unharmed as flames spread across a living room wall before they smelled smoke. The cause remained undetermined.

Texas naturopathy head Dr. Howard Harmon testified that House Speaker Waggoner Carr urged him to trap Rep. James F. Cox with a $5,000 bribe to kill a naturopathy ban bill. Eisenhower seeks to ease FHA down payment terms
