A tea for Miss Sharon Gowen bride elect of Lee Towns was hosted at Mrs. W. R. Sturdivant’s Cotton Center home with a daisied Madeira cloth setting. Lubbock guests included Gowen and Towns families, ahead of a 2 p.m. Saturday wedding at Broadway Church of Christ.
Montefiore Hospital in New York City has organized a three hour program aimed at introducing students and job seekers to hospital careers. The session covers various roles, training requirements, and potential pathways within the healthcare field.
A group of 20 grandmothers gathered in New York for Grandma America to debate babysitting. Many enjoy playing with grandchildren and taking them out, while seasoned mothers say they offered babysitting only in emergencies. Some grandmothers with many grandchildren say there are not enough days to share the duty, and opinions vary by family size and distance from children.

The engagement of Miss Jerry Ann Sandlin to Jimmy Jack Butler was announced at a tea hosted by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald C. Sandlin, at 111 Country Club Drive. The couple plan to wed at 5 p.m. on August 13 at First Presbyterian Church. Sandlin, a Zeta Tau Alpha member, attended Texas Tech and is a junior in elementary education at West Texas State College. Butler studies finance at WTSC and belongs to Lambda Chi Alpha.
The Toastmistress Club installed officers at the Medical Professional Building with the theme Lets Get In Orbit. Mrs. B. T. Rucker served as installing officer and the new officers include Mrs. Helet Simmons president Mrs. Tom Hille vice president Mrs. Lee Grim secretary Mrs. Arthur Ellison treasurer and Miss Eulalie Davies club representative. The next meeting is at 6 30 p m July 11 at the Medical Building.
