Tech Dean Warns Fewer Coeds Pursue Home Economics
Dr. Willa Vaughn Tinsley of Texas Tech told the 57th annual American Home Economics Association meeting that women enrollments rise but the share in home economics declines. She cited 1919–59 gains of 98.6 percent in women students yet a drop from 17 percent in 1951 to 10 percent in 1961 in home economics, attributing part to broader career options while noting limited terminal degrees in the field.

Union Seeks Probe of Norwich Bulletin Strikebreakers
New England Conference of Typographical Unions urged city state and national investigations into professional strikebreakers at the Norwich Bulletin Connecticut. James B. White said the resolution also backs legislation to ban such workers forever and cites Worcester Massachusetts as source of crossing state lines to staff the newspaper.
