Truman to Dedicate Dams in Arkansas Trip

President Truman will fly from Washington Tuesday to Arkansas to dedicate the Norfolk and Bull Shoals dams. He will depart at 1:30 p.m. CST, arrive in Little Rock at 6:30 p.m. CST, then train overnight to Norfork. From Norfork he will motor to the Norfork Dam and to Mountain Home for a Wednesday 11 a.m. CST speech.

State Meet Closes As Amvets Gather In Lubbock Banquet

Rep Waggoner Carr attended the Texas State Amvet convention banquet at the Lubbock Hotel where he urged stronger national effort and individual responsibility. Post No 49 Earl Jones received a membership pin, and local commander Herbert Manning earned a gold trophy for the 1000 member club. Washington June 28 Production officials said the government’s plans for decontrolling steel next October have been indefinitely postponed due to the 26 day old steel strike. Hopes for an early end to the walkout revived after union settled with Pittsburgh Steel on a modified union shop contract.

Seven Killed in Head-on Arkansas Wreck

In Pocahontas Arkansas near dawn a head-on collision killed seven people from St. Louis, including a groom married ten minutes earlier. Three others were injured. Wreck Toll Tops Violence Claims in Texas

At least 16 people die in a violent weekend in Texas from two plane accidents and five highway wrecks.
