Plane crash near Shelter Cove claims many lives
A twin engine DC3 carrying 25 to 30 aboard crashed on takeoff from Shelter Cove California. Coast Guard crews recovered several bodies and rescued survivors as bad seas and winds hampered operations. The flight originated in San Jose and was chartered by Sea Park Ltd of Los Angeles with around 200 sales reps aboard plus crew. Survivors were flown to a hospital in Arcata.
