McWhorter Tire pioneer dies after years in West Texas
McWhorter, son of a rancher who settled here in 1887, was born February 23, 1901 in Shallowater. He owned McWhorter Tire Co at 10th Street and Texas Avenue for 29 years and helped run the truck center at 213 N. Ave. U. He co owned McWhorter Reid Tire Co. in Levelland and earlier worked with W. F. Dean. He began as a Goodyear employee in 1935.
