Vermont Silo Home Reflects Housing Shortage Tales
Ann Peery and her four teenage sons live in a 26 by 11 foot silo home on Mintz Farm near Starrsboro Vermont. They moved from Yellow Springs Ohio after failing to find affordable housing. The three story dome house relies on propane heat and electricity with leaks largely stopped after insulation and cross bracing. The family plans to add a yurt for space while the school supports children and community activities at Shaker Mountain School.
