The United States plans a manned rendezvous with an orbiting satellite this year following Gemini 4 success. NASA chief James Webb outlined an accelerated program to President Johnson, with Gemini 6 docking likely in October, and Gemini 7 a longer mission in August.
Vernon Odell Paschal 21, a lifelong Ralls resident and farmer, died after his car overturned at a rural intersection four miles north and one mile east of Ralls. He was married to Anna Lee Biggerstaff of Tuhoka. The crash occurred shortly after 9 p.m. on a dirt road meeting FM 1471, and the vehicle struck a telephone pole. Services are pending at Carter Funeral Home. Paschal had been farming two years after graduating from Ralls High School. He is the South Plains' fourth traffic fatality of the year. Survivors include his wife, his mother and stepfather, and a sister living in Lubbock.
Ahmed Ben Bella was ousted in a swift coup led by Col. Houari Boumedienne who seized key sites in Algiers and formed a revolutionary committee. Boumedienne, a friend of Peking, stated Algeria would maintain non alignment as a cabinet minister joined the rebels. The move came ten days before the Afro Asian summit.
A Tehran report says a bus plunged into a valley seven miles from the Persian Gulf port of Bandar Abbas on Friday, killing 27 and injuring 34. The casualty toll was compiled as more details arrived in Tehran on Saturday.

Survivors include a daughter, two granddaughters and a great grandson. husband William B Price preceded her in death in 1961. Born Viola Justus in Washington Arkansas she moved to Lubbock in 1925 and chaired Hale Center school board before becoming a city figure noted for hospitality and community service.
The State Board of Insurance will raise auto insurance rates next Tuesday without Texas profit or loss figures from insurers. Board chairman Hunter McLean says Texas drivers face a 12 to 15 percent increase due to higher accident, medical, and repair costs. Board figures show only about 9 percent of premium dollars paid in Texas last year went to those injured or damaged.
