Senate Rejects Senate Additions in Education Aid Bill
The House refused to accept Senate additions of 15 million dollars to an education aid measure and sent the 5.6 billion bill to a House Senate conference. Rep. William D. Hathaway lost 228 to 182 on a motion to agree to the Senate increases. The Senate hike would push the bill about 500 million over the President's request, prompting veto threats unless trimmed.
