James, 28, was held in a Los Angeles jail Sunday for Texas authorities after a Saturday booking on suspicion of robbery. Texas officials said he was wanted for murder in Waco.
Lowell Tash manager of the U S owned King Ranch in Cuba was jailed after tearing down a poster ridiculing the U S embassy and resisting arrest when Cuban soldiers came to question him. The King Ranch property in Camaguey was expropriated last November with limited land and cattle retained. Tash, Iowa native, was later visited by U S consular agent Paul Tate who provided no details.
A severe weather outbreak hit Northeast Texas with tornadoes and damaging winds. Anadoes near Sulphur Springs and Pecan Gap reported roofs torn off and power lines down. No deaths or injuries were confirmed. Earth and Littlefield saw funnel activity and flooding on roads FM 168 and US 70.
Red Chinese artillery shelled the Nationalist offshore island of Quemoy for the second weekend in a row as a noisy prelude to President Eisenhower's visit to Formosa. A Nationalist Defense Ministry communique reported 132 shells fired.
Eleven people were injured Sunday in traffic mishaps in Lubbock and surrounding areas including a two car crash on State Highway 116 west of Morton. Mrs. Pedro Salinas 53, her daughter Miss Lidia Salinas her daughter in law Ophelia Salinas 23 and infant Erma Salinas six months were in a pickup driven by Pedro Salinas and were thrown from the vehicle. Mrs. Salinas was taken to Methodist Hospital for treatment along with the other female passengers. Further details follow on page 8.
A wildcat walkout by Eastern Air Lines pilots delayed dozens of flights and canceled many, affecting cities including Miami Detroit New York Chicago Atlanta New Orleans Minneapolis St Louis Boston Jacksonville Cleveland and Houston plus Bermuda and Puerto Rico. The dispute centers on where federal inspectors may sit during DC-8B jet inspections, with the ALPA advising refunds and rebooks while authorities seek to curb strikes.
President Eisenhower tours Anchorage Alaska drawing large crowds as signs line the street. He smiles at the gathering at night and two Eskimo girls Stella Mosquito seven and Helen Mosquito eight present roses to Mrs John Eisenhower during the visit.

In Argentina a San Luis based detachment rebelled declaring Gen Giovannoni as president. They seized LV-13 and police HQ, announced the 3rd Army’s revolt against President Frondizi, imposed a curfew, seized official cars, and called for weapon handovers. Frondizi planned a Rome departure.
A federal mediator reported steady progress in talks between striking Convair machinists and the Atlas missile project maker. Convair, a General Dynamics unit, resumed negotiations with the IAM as 27,000 Convair workers face walkouts at Air Force bases nationwide.
An experimental French Alouette III helicopter landed atop Mont Blanc 15,781 feet high after visiting Argen tiere Glacier Col du Midi and Dome du Gouter. It touched down briefly on the summit before returning to its base at the mountain's base.
A Tokyo source says the Communist Party has seized control of anti U S Japan alliance campaigning and Eisenhower visits to Japan. Socialist leader Inejiro Asanuma is worried as Communists push violence. Police confirm party leadership since May 20 ratification. Sohyo and Socialists oppose the treaty and the Eisenhower trip.
AP dispatch reports concern over Japan's police ability to shield President Eisenhower during a planned Tokyo visit. Left wing demonstrators have breached grounds, detained officials, and marched freely, with authorities relying on restraint and public opinion rather than force. Demonstrators say they oppose Kishi, not Eisenhower.
