Wheat Loans To Average $1.28 A Bushel For 1944 Crop
War Food administration through the Commodity Credit Corporation will offer loans on the 1944 wheat crop at a basic $1.28 per bushel, varying by location and grade. Loans secured by notes and chattel mortgages on farm stored grain or notes and loan agreements for warehouse stored wheat, with a seven cent storage allowance, mature by April 30, 1945, and may be liquidated at any time with 3 percent interest. Local administration will be by county Agricultural Adjustment Agency committees under state supervision.

Mistaken coupling blamed for refinery welder death
In Deer Park Texas a Shell Oil welder J. C. Rader 37 died after an explosion at the refinery. Officials said the blast resulted from a mistaken coupling of a welding hose to a natural gas outlet. Rader died several hours after being hospitalized.

New Water Line Planned Across Texas Tech Campus

Negro Soldier Sentenced to Hanging in Double Slaying
SAN ANGELO June 19 A general court martial last night found Pvt. Sylvester Davis, a Black soldier from Peoria, Ill, guilty of murder in the slaying of 2 year old Pepgry Lou Arnold. He was sentenced to death by hanging after about 20 minutes of deliberation at San Angelo Army Airfield.
