Barns and Rural Scenes Tour Draws Big Crowd in Black Rock

Barney Sellers exhibited 300 color photographs of barns and rural life from Tennessee, Arkansas, and Mississippi in a vacant Black Rock drugstore, drawing about 600 visitors. A Memphis photographer since 1952 he crafts each image with studied angles and patient light, pricing prints from $2.50 to $25. The exhibit blends with his life as a regional photographer and farm memoirs.

Osmonds Draw Sellout Crowd at Lubbock Show

The Osmond family, 24 gold records winners, played before 5,458 fans in the Lubbock Civic Center exhibition hall. Munch opened. seating was limited to reduce view obstructions. The concert sold out with high demand after tickets went on sale Monday afternoon. The Osmonds rose to fame via The Andy Williams Show and their ABC variety program.

Weather Likely to Warm After Front Drops From Gulf

A Texas cold front gave seasonable 80s on Tuesday with an 88 degree high in Lubbock. Gusty southerly winds return today as the front dissipates, hinting at above normal temperatures by Thursday. Statewide highs ranged from 99 in Alice to 83 in Amarillo and Marfa with late day storms fading on the Edwards Plateau and South Central Texas.

Hostages Overpower Gunman After Five-Hour Illinois Siege

In Aurora Illinois a gunman holding five people at Bernies Cheerio Inn for five hours was overpowered by two hostages. The suspect Steve Allan Salisbury 24 was taken to police headquarters after the rescue. No injuries were reported.
