In Los Angeles the Good Samaritan Hospital, an 83 year old 403 bed 10 story complex, has hosted stars including John Wayne for cancer surgery and Spencer Tracy among others, drawing mixed emotions from visitors.
In Los Angeles on June 6 1968 the Kennedy family faced a second assassination tragedy as Robert F Kennedy died at 1 44 am after being shot in California. Relatives gathered at Good Samaritan Hospital with Ted Kennedy and Jacqueline Kennedy nearby. The scene echoed the 1963 Dallas murder of President John F Kennedy as hundreds of telegrams and letters poured in from around the world.
Martin County Cancer Society elected new officers and committee leaders. Tom Angel was named president Cecil Bridges vice president Sammye Laws secretary Mrs John Rouche treasurer. Committee heads include Mrs Bill Morrow publicity Ben Cagil public education and Mrs Stanley Reid publicity chair.
