Mundt demands ally pledge to halt trade with China
Sen Mundt urged before a future Korea crisis that the United States secure pledges from United Nations allies to stop trading with Communist China. A Senate subcommittee report lists 162 free world ships that traded with Red China between 1952 and 1953, of which about 100 were British vessels making 177 trips. Mundt criticized a British Information Service release as inaccurate and said allied cooperation is essential if a new Korean conflict arises.
