The horses in a stock trailer were also hurt. Kleiber’s death marked Lubbock County’s 24th traffic fatality of the year with the South Plains toll at 48.

Fairfax County hospital reports Barkley wounded in thumb during cockpit struggle aboard Flight 486. He was captured by FBI agents after passengers fled emergency exits onto the wings. College Station 4-H Members Win State Honors at Roundup

South Plains 4-H members from four counties won state championships at the Texas H Club Roundup in College Station. Winners include Hale County in clothing, Howard County in landscape horticulture, Borden County in Quarter Horse judging, and Palmer County in Individual farm and ranch management demonstration. Cathy Jo LaRoe of Happy earned first place in Swisher County meat division and received a $500 scholarship.
