Five Die in Blast at Ohio Explosives Plant

An explosion at the Austin Powder Co. plant in Carthur Ohio killed five workers who had begun their shift about 15 minutes earlier. The 28 by 28 foot blast site housed jellied explosive production and the cause remains unknown. Names identified include Arvin Caudill Glen Pendleton and Duane Lowe with two others reported dead though not located. The plant has a long history of blasts with 250 employees.

Two More Buddhist Nuns Die In Self Immolations

The Associated Press reports two more Buddhist nuns burned themselves to death in Vietnam, the seventh and eighth this week, as protests widen against the military government in Saigon and Hue. Spotlight On Martin Spears Race In Texas Runoff

Ruby sanity hearing set for June 13 in Texas

Supreme Court Justice Hugo Black refused to block the Texas sanity hearing to decide if Ruby, under death sentence for the Oswald murder, is sane enough to choose his own attorneys.
