Paintings Sold For 2500 Prove To Be Worth More
Five paintings bought for 2500 in Brooklyn are valued at a five figure sum by Robert S. Sloan of a Madison Avenue gallery. The works include a David Teniers the Younger piece and portraits by Constable and Hopner, later authenticated by Harry B. Wehle of the Met. The discovery follows Sloan answering a Times ad and locating the seller’s collection. A third party appraisal suggests further works by Dupre and Eastman Johnson.
