Mahon Area House Panel Approves North South Redistricting Plan
The Mahon area House panel advances a remapping spanning miles wide and 350 miles long from north to south. Amarillo and Wichita Falls would join the same district under both plans, with Jones arguing his plan preserves the 19th District’s integrity and better represents Panhandle interests. Jones and Blanchard expect Gov. Smith to open a special session to consider Senate and House redistricting. The current House plan reshapes the Lubbock district and alters the districts for McAlister Tarbox and Jones, affecting counties from Lubbock to Hale and Crosby.
