Truck Explodes After Semiole Cafe Crash

A car and a Frontier Chemical Co truck collided in downtown Seminole early Thursday. The truck rammed into the Westerner Cafe causing a gasoline explosion and a major fire. One person was slightly injured. the cafe interior suffered total loss. Damages totaled about 10,000 to the cafe, 3,500 to the truck, and 1,500 to the car. The truck carried acid and was driven by Clarence C Young. occupants included Alle N Fuqua and M E Parrish. Firefighters took two hours to extinguish the blaze.

Soviets expel three American students over Amerika distribution

Three American students and a Briton were expelled by Soviet officials after distributing copies of the U S State Department magazine Amerika from a downtown hotel. Police detained a Chicago schoolteacher and a West German during the incident as others fled or avoided signing statements in an unfamiliar language.

One Dies In Train Wreck MONAHAN TX

MONAHAN TEXAS AP A Texas and Pacific freight train derailed near Monahans killing engineer W D Graddy 55 of Big Spring. Graddy was operating a switch engine on a siding when the eastbound freight derailed about 20 cars back. He jumped as the cars left the rails and was crushed to death. Two other trainmen on the switch engine escaped unharmed as wrecked cars piled up to 40 feet high near the western edge of town.

Eisenhower Tours Jamboree as Scouts Shoot Photos

President Eisenhower rode in an open car for eight miles through cheering Boy Scouts at the Fifth National Jamboree near Colorado Springs. About 56,173 Scouts snapped pictures as one boy lamented missing his shot. The visit followed a stop at Mrs. Elivers Doud in Lafayette Street, where the 82 year old was seriously ill, before Ike and Mamie planned to return to Newport, R.I. on Friday or Saturday.

Tragic West Texas Crash Kills Nine Including Seven Children

A tractor trailer collided with a passenger car near Odessa. Nine people died, seven children among them, with several others injured and one survivor. Toll May Hit 24 in Cuban Train Crash Near Camaguey

Apartment leveled by blast injures 13 in New Kensington

An explosion followed by fire leveled a two story apartment building in New Kensington Pennsylvania on Thursday night injuring at least 13 people. Fire officials said no fatalities. Natural gas lines in the basement were under inspection when the blast occurred and 9 patients were admitted in satisfactory condition.
