Tragic Lamb County Crash Kills Three in Pickup Collision
Three members of the Fabian Gonzales family were killed and six others injured when their pickup collided with a tractor-trailer south of Amherst. Fabian 38 Adelia 30 and Oralia 5 died at the scene. Six Gonzales children were hospitalized in serious to critical condition while parents and authorities investigated the wreck.

Heart and lung transplant by Dr Barnard shocks world
Dr Christiaan Barnard performed a first time combined heart and lung transplant on Adrian Herbert in Cape Town. The 49 year old dental technician, bedridden two years with incurable lung disease, was reported to be doing as well as expected twelve hours after the operation. It marked Barnard's first such procedure and the world's fourth overall.
