Cylinders Feed Flames Omitting Halo Welding Fire
A blaze at the 12 year old Building of the Plains Welding Supply Co in Plainview leveled the firm Thursday afternoon. A cap on an acetylene tank loosened and ignited as 40 cylinders released gas, feeding a blast furnace type fire. Manager Ralph Culver, his wife, and a customer escaped. five fire units and 15 firefighters fought the inferno for an hour until controlled and three hours more to extinguish. A detachment stayed overnight to guard against re ignition.
