Train wreck after heavy rain hits Texas near Van Horn

Heavy rainfall in far West Texas triggered a freight train derailment nine miles east of Van Horn. A washout on a Southern Pacific trestle derailed 39 cars, seven blocking U.S. 90. Traffic Safety Scoreboard Approved by Lubbock Council

Lubbock Citizens Traffic Council approved a Traffic Safety Scoreboard at 34th St and Ave Q with a 500 to 750 dollar cost. UN Security Council unanimously urged Belgium to speed withdraw its forces from the Congo as East and West traded heated words over the African republic. Philip Reeves a 17 year old Cotton Valley youth spoke from his hospital room about the terror of the Cordpasture Geran Milling elevator blast. A rescue helicopter lowered an electrician into the flames to pull him to safety as prayers and hope carried him through the ordeal.
