Astro City playground stalls rockets in safety test

10 000 Expected Baptists Air Plans For Session Here

The Avalanche-Journal reports Lubbock will host the Baptist General Convention of Texas annual session with about 10,000 attendees. Trains Back In Service As Mediation Boosts Rail Talks

President Johnson named a special mediation board led by Senator Morse to seek a voluntary settlement in the year-old rail wage dispute. The panel, with Meany Kappel Kheel and Saltonstall, aims for a 90 day mediation period, after which terms become binding. By midday Tuesday most major carriers were operating again though picketing continued in some Southern and Southwestern yards.

College Students Exempt From Draft Under New Rules

The state Selective Service director announced a new draft regulation making class rankings and test scores immaterial. Fulltime college students under 24 performing satisfactorily toward a degree are to be deferred, with registrars and local boards advised that class rank data is no longer needed. U S Trains 27 Arab Officers Despite Broken Ties

The Pentagon discloses 27 Arab officers from Sudan Iraq Lebanon and Syria are in U S military training using American manuals at bases nationwide.
