Weed plant raid nets 80 pounds near Lubbock home

Law enforcement through CHOC and the DEA found more than 100 six-foot-tall marijuana stalks covering a 100-square-foot pigpen near a home two and a half miles east of North U.S. 87. Deputies and agents estimated about 80 pounds with a street value around $9,000.

Commissioners Vote To Axe All Requests For Budget Boosts

Lubbock County Commissioners Court will fund offices at current operation levels and cut 429000 from 1977 budget requests. Total 1977-78 budget plans exceed 5.8 million with revenues about 5.4 million and 261000 from reserves. Even at 80 cent tax rate the county would gain 73500 extra revenue, leaving a 125000 excess to eliminate after payroll cuts.

Still Another Day Of Rainfall Due Before Sunshine Returns

The A J Today reports a four day storm system bringing about 7 inches in O'Donnell and up to 4 inches in Lubbock area with 1 to 1.4 inches in Dickens Wolfforth Sundown Slaton and Paducah. Forecasters predict more rain, temperatures mid eighties, and clearing by Thursday as storms fade.
