Skorzeny Dies in Madrid Former Nazi Leader
SS colonel Otto Skorzeny died in his Madrid home from bronchial cancer. He rose to fame for freeing Mussolini from a mountain fortress in 1943 and led a failed mission to capture Eisenhower. He lived in Spain with wife Francisca Lucht and had ventures in exports and rumoured political ties. His memoirs appeared last year and he remained a controversial figure.

Northwest Texas youth group bus wreck injures many
A charter bus from Lubbock carrying Northwest Texas United Methods Church Conference youth and coordinators crashed head on with a semi truck near the Oklahoma Arkansas line. Seventeen of the 25 aboard were injured and six, including the bus driver, were treated at a Fayetteville hospital. Rev. Richard Pittman of Lubbock and bus driver Jerry Robinson were listed in critical condition after surgery for multiple injuries.

Michael Alan McKelvy an 18 year old of 2114 20th St Apt A was killed when a stack of steel I beams toppled in the Mosher Steel Company yard about 7 25 pm. He was buried beneath the heavy pile as workers attempted to hoist a single beam. Justice of the Peace Charles E Smith pronounced him dead at the scene.

Rains Bring Thunderstorms Across Panhandle and West Texas
