Storms sweep Midwest and Texas coast with deaths and damage

Thunderstorms and deluges raked the Midwest and Texas Gulf coast Tuesday. Eighty mph winds knocked out power to 40,000 in Iowa during tornadoes and storms. a boy was killed in Illinois and injuries were reported in Indiana. Heat persisted in Texas with high temperatures and heavy rainfalls in cities like Victoria and Brownsville.

Thief Returns Stolen Medical Gear After $100 Reward

Reese Chief to Take Command at Reese Air Force Base

Col. Ernest T. Cragg a West Point graduate and WWII fighter pilot will assume Reese AFB command on arrival July 10 succeeding Brig. Gen. Dudley E. B. Faver. Cragg comes from RAF Wethersfield England where he led the 20th Tactical Fighter Wing and flew 76 combat missions totaling 175 hours in P 38 and P 51 aircraft. He holds an MA in International Affairs and did postgraduate work in Electrical Engineering at Michigan with postwar service in Germany and at Neubiberg.
