The worst blizzard of the century dumps up to two feet of snow from the Gulf states to New England. Sub zero readings, nine weather deaths reported, and widespread closures blanketed the region. Rucker were booked on assaulting police. their sister M. Rucker faced drunken public charges.
In Asbury Park New Jersey two teenagers battled 2 degree winds and heavy seas riding waves for an hour. Robert Barth 15 and Brad McKenzie 17 wore full-length rubber diving suits as onlookers watched in the cold. One surfer was knocked off a wave but recovered and continued.
