South Plains see multiple traffic deaths and injuries
A fatality and several injuries occurred in separate incidents on the South Plains Saturday. The third traffic death of the year was Vetal William Gongo, 41, a Brownfield supervisor who died when his 1931 Chevrolet hit caliche piles on Tohoka highway east of Brownfield.

Corbin Seeks Seat In Texas Senate From New 28th District
Kilmer Corbin a Lubbock lawyer announced his candidacy for the State Senate from the newly formed 28th district covering Lubbock Crosby Hockley Cochran Yoakum Terry Lynn Gaines Dawson Andrews and Martin counties. He would be seeking a second term following a term in the old 30th district. He is the second candidate joined by former State Rep. Preston E. Smith also from Lubbock. Corbin 32 said the people of West Texas have benefited from significant accomplishments during his first term and he pledges to continue serving the South Plains. He was reared on a farm at Lames educated at Texas Tech and UT Law School. He taught school and served as principal in schools.
